Situated on 329 square miles on the eastern bank of the Delaware River, Gloucester County is located directly across from the Greater Philadelphia International Airport and just 15 minutes from downtown Philadelphia via the Walt Whitman Bridge. The county also straddles the I-95 Industrial Corridor, which runs between Trenton, the capital of New Jersey, and Wilmington, Delaware, the state’s largest city.
It is an outstanding agricultural, industrial and residential area. Area farmers grow fruits and vegetables, raise poultry, dairy cows, cattle, hogs, and other livestock. Canneries, freezing establishments, and nearby markets all contribute to making Gloucester County one of the chief food producing areas of New Jersey. Some of the largest industries in the East are located here with modern facilities employing thousands of workers. The network of highways and public transportation, good schools, places of worship, and local and county services have made Gloucester County a center for many fine residential communities.
